Recommended Packing List:
1. 3 changes of dancewear, hip sash, dance shoes (barefoot OK)
2. Finger cymbals, drum/Doumbek, frame drum, or tambourine/riq (drums may be borrowed for those flying in, cymbals available to borrow or purchase)
3. Costumes, a costume cover-up, Veils – rectangular & circular
4. Make-up for performance: dark-colored lipstick, eye shadow, eyelashes & glue.
5. Comfortable California casual style clothing & shoes, evening dress & costume for Middle Eastern restaurant dinner & performance.
6. May spring nights may be chilly – bring a light sweater or wrap (typical weather: morning fog, afternoon sun, 65 – 95 degree temperature range – & foggy, chilly 55 degrees in San Francisco)
7. Bring your recorder & camera. (Retreat bag, folder, dance workshop notes, pen provided)
8. Will I need any additional money? The retreat is all-inclusive & includes: transportation between the San Jose airport (SJC) studio & the restaurant, Turkish Harem B&B includes breakfast, lunches, snacks, & dinners at the Studio, & Middle Eastern restaurant dinner, all Ma*Shuqa Method handouts, professional still images & video from your performance.
9. Bring any special needs items: medication or dietary supplements required. Retreat menus cater to special dietary requirements with gluten-free snacks, vegetarian dishes, filtered water, herbal teas, juice, espresso, coffee, Persian tea & pastries, wine & champagne.
